Dragon Fly Blues

On a clear day
If you are feeling blue
Look about you

Open up those ears
Listen
To the distant hovering sound
Cutting through the silence
Making a ripple in it

See the majestic
Multi-colored insect
Standing there
Motionless
Smiling
Laughing
Because
A friend was just found

A Tearful Moment for a Bear

In a land long ago
Where I stood tall
To sniff the air
I saw a bear

The grand dad of them all
I was in my youth
And not knowing better
I shot him dead

Now
I am older
And
That day brings a tear
For when my grand children comer over
I can not tell them
About
The beauty that was called a bear

Floating House

Hi
My name is Jeb
Meet my  wife Meg
We
Have a daughter Peg

We
All live
In a house
Made out of spit

I Don't Understand

Things are written in books
To be read
But not
Always
To be understood

The Word of Choice

Remember this
Writers of words
It is
Not
The size
Nor
The color
Of the pencil
But
The word
That is chosen
That can move
Mountains
And
Make men
Out of mice

Another World

Here I sit
Within my domain
Watching
That
Other world
Pass by
Never thinking
It could end

Never thinking
I can venture
Over there

Never thinking
It is
Beyond my reach

Never thinking
It is
On the other side

Never thinking
It is another world

Never thinking
I am
Just a fish

Thanks

This is the season of giving gifts
Allow us all
To thank you

It is your smile
And
The knowledge of you being around
That makes us all
Miss you
When you are not here

So
 Allow us
To say
Happy Birthday Santa
And thank you
For the gift of  your presence

Life is An Open Book

Learning is not about grades
Nor about
Getting a better job

Learning
Is about exercising your brain

The more you read
The more you explore
The mysteries of the written page
And
The healthier
your brain becomes

Don’t go to school for the grade
Go to school
To explore the magic
Hidden in books

Congratulations
To all graduates

No one is too old
Or
To young
To learn
or
go to school
May we all
follow your example
Never stopping to learn
Especially from each other

Life is an open book
Ready
For each one of us
to pick it up
And read it

Bad KItty

                                    Written
                                                 April 8, 2011

Oh happy day
As I sit here
Watching
These wonderful
Edible golden fish
Swimming inside
This transparent hard box
Oooh how I wish
I could swim
Like these delicious golden angels

I hope
She doesn't see me drooling
But
How can she see me
How
Can she even know
I was drooling

Aaah I know
Let me spray
Some of my special sweet smelling
Perfume
On everything
And
She won't even know
 My nose and paw prints
Were
Ever highlighting
This transparent box
Sitting here
 In front of me

Did you Know

The World is much older now
Than
When I was born

And that makes me happy
Because
I will always be younger

A Peanut Butter Birthday

Dude
Just remember
That a simple poem
Sticks to the soul
Easier than peanut butter
Sticks to Bread
And is never forgotten
So
here's to your health
May you have
Many
Many more birthdays

Birthday Poem Number 3

As I closed my eyes
I felt a soft but gentle sting
On my neck
Followed by a drop of moisture
Running down
Making a big plopping noise
On my pillow

At hearing the sound
I woke up
Only to see my cat licking me
And
Playfully sticking his claws into my hand
As he watched a Humming Bird
Fly up to my bedroom window
To whisper happy Birthday to me

Happy Birthday Number 2

It seems like
Yesterday
That you were 29

It seems like
A millions ago
But actually
 It was 1979

 you will always be
Forever young
With an apple in one hand
And
On the other
A knife
Keeping me at bay

Telling me to stay away
From your apple
As you spread
Peanut butter on it

So
As I look above me
In the sky
I remember
With a smile
Your Birthday

My Buddy The Spider

Stop
Go
Go Stop

If you see a spider crawling
On you
Don't say ouch

Don't flick him off with your finger
Just
Pat his head and say
Bit my neighbor

Lets Not Be Scared Of Words

Words written
On Paper
Are silent

To hear them
Echo
we must give them
A voice

So
Lets pick them up
To learn
What they are saying
Making them our friends

Strangers No More

As I was walking
Down the road
I saw darkness

As we passed
I smiled
And we were
No longer
Strangers

Broken Words

A promise spoken
once
Is not forgotten

A promise broken
twice
Is always remember

An Ice Cream Christmas

The magic of Christmas
Is about the sharing of fond memories
Gone by and yet to come

It is about that special moment
When you can see a tear
Drop
From the eye of an eagle
When it starts to salivate
Because it sees
A red Robin sitting in a Cherry Tree
Looking like
A mountain of vanilla ice cream
With a sprinkle of Jack Daniels

Happy Kitty

Have you ever
Noticed
A cat with a fluffy tail

Prancing
As it swishes its tail
Back and fourth
Erasing everything in its path
Causing havoc
Without ever noticing
That everyone is in an up roar
Over the nonchalant smile
As this beautiful kitty
Passes them up

Roses have toes

I hear the birds singing
As they surf
Across
Blossoming flowers
Only stopping
To catch their breath and
A drop of sweet nectar
As their wings
Accidentally  disturb
The delicate balance of pollen
Hanging loosely between their toes

As this little ditty is read
It can be said
You can still smile
At eighty
So
Happy Birthday

Taking Out Trashy

The gruesome twosome
Agent of trash
Hovers over all empty containers

It sits in waiting
For garbage can lids
To open
So it can swoop in
Tossing everything out
For the world to see

It smiles
When it sees a plastic bottle
Skinny dipping
In a pool of blue water
Scaring fish out of their skin

So remember
If you ever see
An open garbage can lid
Close it
Snuffing out
The agent of trash
Keeping the world clean
And fish in their skin

An invite to dinner

Here I am
Walking
On the floor
Crawling among the rocks
From pebble to peebble
Gasping for air
Between the air bubbles floating upward
Gathering in a circle
High above me
Hoping to escape
The eyes of hungry fish
Who are chasing them
To capture the delicate morsel
Dancing between their transparent bodies

As I watch
The dancing bubbles laughing at the fish
I become jealous at the sight
Cause
I am bound to the ocean floor
Till a human from the island in the sky
Throws a net down and traps me
Taking me to my fate

An Introduction to my voice

I use poetry, I write poetry to express not only my opinion but also to let people know who I am and where my mind wonders to. I love writing poetry, it is an easy way to get what is in my mind out, as well as making room for new and exciting ideas and experiences that may find their way into my head.
