Eat Don't Smile

On your Birthday
Remember
A slice of Birthday Cake
Does not
Add any calories
But
it does tickle
And that
 Causes wrinkles
so
Happy Birthday
Eat
All the Cake you want

A New Day Is Born

My time is near
To disappear and leave

I am ready
To dance a tango
Over the rainbow
Where a pot of gold is waiting
For me to take

Surrendering its worth to me
As the day draws short
And
My time to leave
Becomes apparent
As the clouds above me
Practice a farewell dance
To me

A Tribute To Betty Gentry

Come dance with me
Let’s move with the music
Its okay
If you don't have rhythm
Its okay
If you have two left feet
 It’s still good exercise

Come let’s do a time step
Come
Let’s travel across the floor
Using a grapevine step
Remember
To move with the music and always smile

We all have a dancer in us
So
Come join me in dance class
And
Let that little dancer in us
Break out and shimmer
As the stage lights silhouettes each of us
As we cross the vast dance floor
Like a ship out at sea

Let’s celebrate the art of dance
Let’s make some noise and applaud
The great accomplishment of Betty Gentry
And
How she has taught us how to bring that dancer
In us all
out
Dancing a jig
As the spot light
Highlights our smile

The Show Must Go On

It has been said
A good soul passes from this life to the next
Leaving only footprints in the sand
But
As we all know
There are exceptions

Betty Gentry
Is one of those exceptions
We
Can all hear her whispers
In the wind
As a breeze blows across the stage
Causing
Hairs on the backs of the audience watching
To quiver
She is speaking, laughing, joking and dancing
Through her students
Her legacy lives on
As
Her spirit gently and firmly touches each one of us
Performing on stage

The stage lights not only accent the dance
But they
Underscore the good feeling
We all get
When we smile and try our best
To reject the notion
That it can not be done

Betty did not just leave
A footprint in the sand
She left
A Godzilla size impression of her love for dance in us all
Dance does not stifle our brains
But it energizes it
Just like Betty did and still does
From her balcony seat
High up
In the clouds
