The Wandering Letter

It’s raining

But

Not snowing

It is so cold

I can see my breath

Turning into a fog

 Around me

I wonder if Santa

Can fine my house

I wonder

If my letter

Made it to the North Pole

Maybe

The mailman is lost

Nah

 Rudolph’s nose is a beacon

Finding Santa’s house

 Is a cinch

For Frosty the mail man

The Rising of a Blue Moon

Swooping across the sky

Above

Is a blue moon

To the delight of all

Who gather

Smiling

As they applaud

A miracle

The birth of a star

Born

This day in 1976

The Clouds Above

Look up

What you see

The sky

The clouds flowing by

Like puffs of white smoke

As soft as a pillow

Now

Imagine me next to you

With a smile

Waiting for you

A short Birthday Poem

Time stands still

When

A birthday Candle is lit

For whom

it is lit

No one knows’

Till the birthday song is sang

So

At this time

Let’s all say

Happy Birthday

A Glass of Birthday Wine

Things go better with wine

Yet

Eating cake

Is even better

So

Let’s have a glass of Shiraz or Merlot

With

Your birthday cake

Today

With friends and family

And

Maybe co –workers

If

No one tells the boss

Ivory Keys

88 keys
To play with
88 minutes to say
Good bye
Before
                   The next teardrop
  falls
                           That is
The way of a piano player

Summer Camp

I am counting the days
As
I wait for summer
Hoping
My parents
Will allow me
To go to camp
I never know
who I will meet
But
Having a new friend
To play with
And Learning a new name
Puts a smile on my face
It’s like learning
A new song
from the radio
Sometimes
You can hear all the words
but
Sometimes
It’s easier
To just hum
To the rhythm
I hear in my head
I am so glad
Summer
Is almost here
so
I can learn a new song
And a new name
At Camp

Honoring an Springtime Flower

Watching a field of flowers
Swaying in the breeze
In springtime
Can cause the heart to stop
Because
You have seen
A furry creature
Prancing
between the mustard plants
As it tap dances
To the sound of the wind
Blowing gently
Pushing
The yellow flowers
Apart
O
So gently
So not to hurt
The creature nor the flower
Playing a game of hide and seek
In honor of a close friend
By the name of Trudy

An Impression on the Mind

A hurricane is power
Blowing across the land
But
If you look at it with clear and honest eyes
You will notice the beauty
The power and the strength it has
While leaving and making an impression
On your mind

Kangaroos Never Age

The explosiveness of an upcoming Birthday
Gives birth
To the character of an orange
Being squeezed
Into orange juice
To the delight of everyone

Birthdays
Have that kind of affect on people
Causing them to smile
Because
They have never seen
Anyone
As old as you
Hopping around
Like a kangaroo
So
Happy birthday
And
Never stop
Hopping

House of Cards

The power of money
Is
Made up of a tower of playing cards
At
The slightest breeze
It falls apart
The rich
Become poor
The poor
Give a sigh with a smile
Hoping
For a warm sunny day
And a full belly

Stepping Over Covid-19

Living
Through a worldwide pandemic
Is like walking on stones trying to cross
A creek
And
Trying not to get your feet wet
But
knowing you will
Eventually
Getting across
to the other side
To continue your journey
Stepping over Covid–19
To get to the other side of the creek
And
Having a picnic
On a grassy meadow on a sunny
Sunday afternoon
