Time to sit and stand

To speeches from teachers

And other dignitaries

Hear them

Talk about the past and present

Referring

To the future

As a part of both

While all the time

I know you are just thinking

 Will all this

It never will

Sit back and enjoy

The rainbow colored morning

By putting the present into the past

And let the future

Carry you to the outer limits

Of your imagination

For soon enough

You will stand tall

Next to the elders of the council

Drying their tears

As they also once did

When they were young
